Airports

The Municipality has airports in Kangerlussuaq and Sisimiut, as well as limited landing grounds for helicopters in Itilleq and Sarfannguit.

Just as elsewhere in the world, aviation means rapid and regular domestic and international connections, and the air traffic helps promote tourism and ensure fresh goods for both export and import, among other things.

At the same time, air traffic and shipping constitute the Municipality’s most important roads, since no land road goes more than a few kilometres from the populated areas.
