Municipal Council

The municipal council of Sisimiut consists of 13 members. At present, four different parties have members in the council, and the parties are:
 
Siumut (Social-Democratic Party)
Atassut (Liberal Party)
Demokraterne (Social-Liberal Party)
Iniut Ataqatigiit (Socialist Party)
 
The municipal council manages municipal affairs and is headed by the Mayor, with a first and second deputy-mayor.
 
As head of the municipal council the Mayor can be reached by the public through the political secretariat at the city hall in Sisimiut town. Appointments are made by calling (299) 86 40 77 or sending an email to sisimiut@sisimiut.gl.

Political committees and other councils
The members of the municipal council are also elected into the four different political committees of the municipality, and each committee holds monthly or bi-monthly meetings, is run by a chairman, and has an administrational department working for it at the city hall.
