Greenland’s largest and best youth hostel offers far more than just accommodation. Old Camp is less than two kilometres from Kangerlussuaq Airport, and transport is available between the hostel and the airport for those staying there.
Accommodation in Old Camp is provided in the traditional, red-painted Greenlandic longhouses. However, the hostel recently underwent major renovation, meaning we now offer good rooms with common toilet and bathroom facilities in three of the four long houses comprising the site. The fourth house functions as a kiosk, reception, office and lodging for the staff.
The double rooms of the hostel are kitted out with box-beds, desks, chairs and wardrobes. Bedrooms are furnished with bunk beds. WC and bathroom facilities are situated in the corridors of each house, which also feature a living and dining room with TV, video and hifi system.
Breakfast buffet is served every morning for visitors to the hostel, who after excursions over the day may look forward to using the hostel’s outdoor facilities. During the summer we hold BBQing events in the marquee in the yard.
All kinds of Greenlandic specialities are served here, such as musk ox, reindeer and smoked little auk. Groups can pay extra for full board and lodging at the youth hostel.
