Arctic Circle Race

This has been called the world’s toughest ski run. It’s also been called an extreme challenge. 160 km in mountainous terrain over three days and 65 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. That’s the Arctic Circle Race for you.

The meeting of local and global in Sisimiut
It’s a challenge for most and an experience for all in the region around Sisimiut when skiers from the world over arrive to compete in this race, while an entire town is mobilized to serve and assist all skiers and spectators, who for more than 10 years now have been coming to the Arctic Circle Region to take part in or watch the hardest but best skiing anywhere.

More than mere skiing
The Arctic Circle Race is more than just skiing though. It’s a week-long event held by a small local community in which the best Greenland can offer is concentrated and delivered to visitors to the region. And you don’t need to be a skier to take part in the festivities.

During these days at Sisimiut you’ll find concerts, exhibitions, lectures, kaffemik with local people, excursions by snowmobile and dog sled, and a great deal else running parallel with the competition itself. And when night draws on there’s still life in the town and northern lights in the sky.

That’s the Arctic Circle Race for you.

You can read more about the race itself, how to take part and what activities are available during the race days by visiting the homepage of the Arctic Circle Race here.
