Activities

Life in a small Greenlandic village is not life as most people know it, and on the surface it may appear as if not a lot happens here. But both your trip here and your experience of everyday life in the village is a key part of a visit.

The residents, of course, have daily business to attend to just as people everywhere else, and when you visit Sarfannguit, you’ll witness a living local community in which the everyday is closely linked to the sea around the village, and yet where there’s still time and space to engage in conversation and socializing.

For hikers on the Arctic Circle Trail, perhaps the most important thing the village offers is accommodation, relaxation and dwelling on the peace of a small Greenlandic village, before the journey continues either toward Sisimiut or Kangerlussuaq.

In Sarfannguit, there may be time for a cosy Greenlandic kaffemik in a private home, a visit to the school or the church, and a trip to the top of the island to enjoy the view across the fjords.

If you don’t reach the village by hiking, you can see below who’s able to take you on an eventful trip to Sarfannguit.
